Colombia and Mexico implement various vehicle and traffic regulations
Various Colombian and Mexican authorities are implementing or announcing new measures to manage urban mobility and vehicle compliance.
In Colombia, several cities have active traffic restrictions. Bogotá continues its 'pico y placa' system for private vehicles, operating from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays based on plate numbers. Medellín is also enforcing restrictions for private cars, motorcycles, and taxis to improve mobility. In Cartagena, the local government has released the official schedule for its vehicle restriction program to reduce congestion and emissions. Additionally, in Pasto, authorities announced operations to prevent motorcycles and cars from illegally using pedestrian and cycling zones.
In Mexico, the state of Puebla is urging owners of over 400,000 vehicles with outdated license plates to regularize their status. The Secretary of Finance is offering discounts of up to 73 percent to encourage compliance and avoid complications during vehicle impoundment or accidents.
