Bogotá authorities arrest eight suspects in teacher's murder

Authorities in Colombia have captured eight individuals suspected of involvement in the murder of Kevin Santiago Ángel, a teacher and community leader in the Kennedy district of Bogotá. The victim was known for his social work aimed at steering youth away from crime and drug trafficking.

The operation was a coordinated effort involving the Fiscalía General de la Nación, the CTI, the National Police, and the Military Gaula. Seven suspects were apprehended in Bogotá and Pamplona, Norte de Santander, while an eighth was notified of the judicial order in a prison in La Dorada, Caldas.

Investigators have linked the crime to the ‘Tren de Aragua’ criminal organization. Among those detained is an individual known as ‘Osmer,’ identified by authorities as a gang leader responsible for coordinating extortion activities in southwestern Bogotá. The group also included two alleged zone coordinators and five others involved in the logistics and execution of the homicide.
