Bogotá bridge inauguration and Hidroituango hydroelectric project advances

A 363‑metre vehicular bridge on Calle 153 in north Bogotá is now 98‑99% complete, with dynamic tests underway and an opening slated for late July to early August 2026. The bridge will feature three vehicle lanes, pedestrian and cyclist paths, and is expected to ease congestion for over 700,000 residents along a heavily congested corridor.

The Hidroituango hydroelectric project in Colombia has reached 95.70% overall physical progress as of May 2026. Units 1‑4 are already operating commercially, supplying about 1,200 MW to the national grid, while units 5‑8 are under construction. A recent technical meeting chaired by the Procuraduría reviewed the project's disaster‑risk management plan amid El Niño concerns and an emergency decree for flood‑prone departments. Commitments were made to improve risk‑management coordination and to raise the reservoir level to its maximum of 420 m between October and November 2026.
