Bogotá bridge construction projects

In July 2026 Bogotá’s district government reported that the pedestrian and cyclist bridge over Boyacá Avenue, opposite the El Edén Mall, had passed the 70 % completion mark. The main metal structure and final access works were installed, and temporary night‑time lane closures remained in place to allow construction. Authorities continue to target a later‑2026 opening to improve safety on the busy western corridor.

The 363‑metre vehicular bridge on Calle 153 in the north of the city reached 98‑99 % completion, with dynamic tests underway and static load tests scheduled. The bridge was officially handed over on 5 August, providing three traffic lanes, an on‑ramp, and a 5‑metre bike‑pedestrian deck that will serve an estimated 240 000 vehicles daily and benefit more than 20 000 pedestrians and cyclists each day.

The Venecia bridges progressed to 96.71 % completion, the concrete deck having been poured with over 4 150 m³ of concrete. Static load tests were set to begin, with southbound lanes expected to open by late August and the north‑west connection by November‑December, followed by paving, lighting and signage work to finish the first corridor level in 2027.

The Hidroituango hydroelectric project remained at 95.70 % overall physical progress. After a technical meeting on risk‑management, officials committed to raise the reservoir to its maximum level of 420 m between October and November 2026.

In parallel, the National Infrastructure Agency and concessionaire ALO‑Sur signed the act to start construction of the 24.5‑km ALO‑Sur highway, a double‑carriageway linking Chusacá (Sibaté) to Calle 13 (Fontibón). Budgeted at 1.96 trillion pesos, the four‑year project aims to relieve congestion on Autopista Sur and improve cargo and passenger flow into the capital.
