Bogotá IDU details progress and timeline for Carrera Séptima corridor
The Institute of Urban Development (IDU) in Bogotá responded to a Contraloría investigation by outlining the current status of two major road projects: the Carrera Séptima corridor and the Calle 45 works. For the Carrera Séptima, the agency reported that construction began in March with five active fronts between streets 99 and 127, and that additional phases (groups 2 and 3) will start in 2026, extending the work to street 200. When completed, the corridor will feature exclusive TransMilenio lanes, new public spaces, a bike path, stations, green areas and storm‑water infrastructure, benefiting more than two million daily users.
Regarding Calle 45, the IDU said the contract signed by the previous administration had reached about 43 % completion before a new procurement decision was needed. A new tender is planned for August‑September 2026 to finish the north side of the road, while the remaining portion of the Carrera Séptima corridor is expected to be re‑tendered by the end of 2027, with construction slated for 2028.
