Bogotá implements road closures and new transit lanes
Bogotá is implementing significant changes to its road network. Starting August 21, 2026, lane closures will affect Carrera Séptima between Calle 102 and 116 in the Usaquén district. These works, authorized by the Secretaría Distrital de Movilidad, are expected to last approximately 12 months. While one lane will be closed in each direction, two lanes will remain available for circulation.
Additionally, a new preferential lane for public transport has been launched on Calle 63, currently operating between Carrera 68 and Carrera 112. The city has established a transition period for drivers: pedagogical warnings will be issued from September 1 to September 20, with actual financial sanctions beginning on September 21, 2026. Violations of the Calle 63 lane rules may result in fines equivalent to 15 daily minimum wages.
