Overview

Colombia and Bogotá are implementing new urban mobility and transportation regulations. In Bogotá, significant road network changes include lane closures on Carrera Séptima in the Usaquén district, expected to last approximately 12 months. Additionally, a new preferential lane for SITP public transport vehicles has been established on Calle 63.

To manage these changes, authorities have set a transition period for the Calle 63 lane from September 1 to September 20, during which drivers will receive pedagogical warnings. Financial sanctions for lane violations are scheduled to begin on September 21.

On a broader scale, new national requirements for driver licensing will take effect on September 14, 2026. Applicants for new or recategorized licenses must pass a 40-question theoretical exam covering traffic norms, signaling, infrastructure, and vehicle mechanics through Logistics Support Evaluation Centers (CALE).
