Bogotá fines driver and owner of blue Spark after risky bridge stunt
A video that went viral on July 20 2026 showed a blue Chevrolet Spark attempting to drive up the pedestrian‑only ramp of a bridge on Avenida El Dorado, near Calle 26 in Bogotá. The stunt, carried out by two young riders who do not reside in the capital and were attending a BMX event, endangered pedestrians and cyclists and sparked outrage on social media.
The Bogotá Secretariat of Mobility identified the driver and the registered owner of the vehicle. Both face multiple traffic violations, including driving on sidewalks, covering plates and endangering public safety, with total fines estimated at about 1.6 million Colombian pesos. The owner, Brayan Bernal Muñoz, claims he sold the car months earlier but did not complete the formal transfer, keeping him legally responsible. Authorities have also warned that the car may be immobilized and taken to official storage while the administrative process continues. Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán called the act “a savage maneuver” and urged citizens to report similar violations.
