Bogotá investigation into woman's death during tattoo sedation
Authorities in Bogotá are investigating the death of 33-year-old Yenifer García Valencia, who died on August 15 during a tattoo session at her home in the Rafael Uribe Uribe locality. García was undergoing the third session of a large tattoo on her back and glutes when she lost consciousness.
According to reports, the victim's family had paid approximately 600,000 Colombian pesos for sedation to manage the pain. While the individual providing the service presented himself as an anesthesiologist, investigations indicate he was actually a nursing assistant. The procedure, which was intended to be local anesthesia, reportedly involved intravenous sedation.
Police recovered medical supplies at the scene, including ketamine (50 mg/mL) and Dormicum (midazolam, 5 mg/5 mL). Investigators are working to determine if these substances were administered in quantities that directly caused her death. Although suspects were initially detained, they have since been released. The final cause of death is pending analysis by Medicina Legal.
