Bogotá Metro Company Tightens Labor Oversight for Metro Line 1 Project
The Empresa Metro de Bogotá (EMB) issued a formal statement reaffirming its absolute commitment to safeguarding the labor guarantees of all personnel involved in the Metro Line 1 mega‑construction. The public entity will closely monitor the main concessionaire and its subcontractors to ensure that wages, social benefits and statutory contributions are paid on time.
EMB has opened direct, confidential digital channels—an online petition platform and an institutional email address—so workers can anonymously report any irregularities or violations without fear of retaliation. Reported cases are promptly forwarded to the project interventor for corrective action.
The announcement highlighted the thousands of construction workers, technicians and engineers contributing to what is described as the most important road‑infrastructure project in the capital’s history. EMB thanked the workforce for their daily effort on viaducts and stations, and reminded them of the importance of the TransMilenio system for commuting.
The measures coincide with other social investments in the city, such as the recent delivery of sports equipment to schools in the Santa Fe district.
