Bogotá Metro Construction Triggers Autopista Sur Lane Closures

The District of Bogotá announced temporary lane closures on the Autopista Sur to accommodate works on the Metro's 9‑SENA station and a TransMilenio station. Daytime traffic between Primero de Mayo Avenue and 8 Sur Street will be limited to a single south‑north lane, while the western TransMilenio carriageway will be closed permanently and buses will use the eastern carriageway in both directions.

Nighttime closures will affect all south‑north lanes from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., and later shift to the mixed traffic lane for north‑south flow. To mitigate congestion, the city’s Mobility Secretariat has authorized detours: south‑bound vehicles can use Calle 30 Sur to rejoin the highway, while north‑bound traffic may follow Diagonal 46 Sur, Diagonal 40 Sur, Carreras 26G and 27, or connect via Carrera 30. Officials urged commuters to plan routes in advance and consult the TransMiApp for updates.
