Bogotá secures cultural honors and new museum leadership

Bogotá has received two significant cultural recognitions. María Belén Sáez de Ibarra has been appointed as the new director of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá (Mambo). Following a selection process assisted by the firm Egon Zehnder, Sáez de Ibarra brings extensive experience from the Ministry of Culture and the Universidad Nacional, where she managed various institutional and artistic transformations.

Additionally, the Unión de Ciudades Capitales Iberoamericanas (UCCI) has named Bogotá the Ibero-American Capital of Culture for 2027. The decision, made during a meeting in Lima, recognizes the city's extensive cultural agenda, which includes over 18,000 annual activities and a robust infrastructure of theaters, auditoriums, and libraries. The designation is expected to increase the city's international visibility and strengthen cultural exchange within the Ibero-American region.
