Bogotá community cultural outreach

Overview

Throughout June‑August 2026 Bogotá expanded its free public‑space cultural and educational programming. In early June Idartes launched the “Crea” series of free digital‑creation workshops—animation, 3‑D modelling, interactive design, photography and experimental film—held in community centers across the peripheral districts of Bosa, Kennedy, Los Mártires, San Cristóbal and Suba, targeting children, adolescents and young adults. In early July Idartes added health‑focused arts sessions: a “Movimiento volcán” somatic‑movement workshop at the Casona de la Danza on 7 July and a basic hatha‑yoga class at the National Museum on 12 July, both open to the public. The Chapinero district continued its public‑space cultural agenda with a free day of dance and music on 17 July, a park‑beautification of Parque Marconi on 10 July, and a mass open‑air reading organized by the BibloRed network. Simultaneously, the District Ministry of Culture installed the interactive sensor‑driven artwork “Vaivén” at the Centro Felicidad (9‑12 July) and Idartes, together with Galería Santa Fe, ran a three‑day animation lab “Ríos, cámaras y acción” (8‑10 July) for families, emphasizing environmental themes. On 1 August the city opened the third International Biennial of Arts for Children, a multidisciplinary festival for young audiences. Later in August, the Secretaría Distrital de Ambiente linked Bogotá to National Moth Week with a citizen‑science night at the Parque Ecológico de Montaña Serranía del Zuque, where volunteers set light traps and recorded ten moth species, contributing data to a global effort coordinated by Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission. The Secretaría Distrital de Integración Social held a pedagogical‑environmental day for children from protective centers at Parque Jaime Duque, featuring wildlife observation, group games and activities aimed at emotional development and the right to recreation for vulnerable youth.
