Bogotá pushes ahead with Boyacá Avenue pedestrian bridge near El Edén Mall

The district government of Bogotá reports that construction of the pedestrian and cyclist bridge over Boyacá Avenue, opposite the El Edén shopping centre, is progressing rapidly. Installation of the main metal structure and final access works have brought the project past the 70 % completion mark, with authorities aiming to open the bridge later this year.

The bridge will provide separate lanes for walkers, cyclists and users with reduced mobility, improving safety on one of the city's busiest western corridors. To install the structure, the Mobility Secretariat has authorized temporary night‑time lane closures on the avenue and urges drivers to follow posted signage.

When completed, the bridge is expected to reduce traffic accidents, ease crossing for thousands of daily pedestrians and cyclists, and strengthen connectivity between the mall and surrounding neighbourhoods.
