Bogotá to host international heritage forum in September

The District Institute of Cultural Heritage (IDPC) will conclude the 2026 Heritage Month in Bogotá with the international forum ‘Memoria que Construye Futuro’ (Memory that Builds the Future). The event is scheduled for September 29 and 30 at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.

The forum will bring together a diverse group of experts, including architects, urbanists, sociologists, and researchers, to discuss the sustainability and transformation of the city's cultural heritage. Key topics include the protection of both material and immaterial heritage, the role of new technologies and artificial intelligence in preservation, and the challenges of managing cultural memory during crises.

Diego Javier Parra Cortés, director of the IDPC, stated that heritage serves as a tool to think about and build Bogotá's future. The discussions aim to address the city's development as it approaches its 500th anniversary.
