Latin American cities implement various traffic and safety measures

Various Latin American regions are implementing diverse traffic management and safety measures. In Honduras, authorities are preparing for Semana Morazánica 2026 by increasing road security, conducting mechanical inspections for transport units, and deploying over 33,000 personnel across 1,600 control points to manage an expected half-million travelers.

In Colombia, several cities are enforcing 'pico y placa' restrictions. Bogotá has set a temporary exemption for hybrid vehicles through late 2027, while Cali and Cúcuta maintain specific plate-based rotation schedules to manage congestion.

In Mexico, the 'Hoy No Circula' program in Mexico City and the State of Mexico restricts vehicles with yellow stickers and specific plate endings (5 and 6) from circulating during peak hours, provided there is no active environmental contingency.
