Bogotá water services: maintenance cuts and new industrial reuse authorization
The Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá (EAAB) has announced scheduled water service interruptions in several localities on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, to perform maintenance and repairs on distribution networks. Affected areas include parts of Suba, Usaquén, Usme, and Bosa.
In a separate development regarding water resource management, the Autoridad Nacional de Licencias Ambientales (ANLA) has authorized the EAAB to reuse treated wastewater from the PTAR Salitre plant. The concession allows for the reuse of up to 77 liters per second for industrial activities that do not require potable water for a period of eight years.
Planned uses for the treated water include the manufacturing of concrete and asphalt, street and facade cleaning, garden irrigation, and cooling systems for data centers. The EAAB must now implement the necessary infrastructure to begin the supply.
