Bogotá's GDP outpaces national average as productivity rises in 2025

Bogotá cemented its role as Colombia's economic engine in 2025, posting operational revenues of $715.05 billion despite a decline of 159 active firms. The capital’s businesses generated more than half of the country’s total corporate assets, and small firms posted the highest net‑profit margins.

The city’s gross domestic product grew 3.5 % year‑on‑year, beating the national average of 2.6 %. Construction led the surge with a 4.9 % increase, contrasting with a 2.7 % downturn across Colombia. Commerce, transport, accommodation, food services and the creative sector also posted double‑digit gains, while public services, health and education contributed steady growth.
