Bogotá's Idartes launches free digital creation, cinema and video‑game workshops

The Instituto Distrital de las Artes (Idartes) has opened a series of free workshops under its "Crea" program to bring digital technology, art and innovation to vulnerable communities in Bogotá. The practical sessions cover animation, 3‑D modelling, interactive experience design, photography and experimental film, and are held in local centers across Bosa, Kennedy, Los Mártires, San Cristóbal and Suba.

Target groups include children aged 7‑16, adolescents and young adults up to 25, with specialized tracks such as video‑game design for ages 12‑17. Idartes director María Claudia Parías said the initiative “transforms the perception of technology, turning passive users into active producers of multimedia stories.” The program aims to foster digital literacy, strengthen neighborhood ties and reduce social exclusion in the city’s peripheral districts.
