Colombia earthquake relief efforts expand across multiple regions
Following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Colombia that has resulted in over 300 deaths, various humanitarian aid efforts are being centralized and expanded to support affected regions including Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Quindío, and Cali.
In Bogotá, the Palacio de los Deportes has been designated as the primary collection point for all donations to streamline the distribution process. Additionally, nine SuperCADE locations in the capital are accepting essential items such as hygiene kits and bedding. The cultural festival ‘Vallenato al Parque’ is also serving as a donation hub at Simón Bolívar Park.
Solidarity efforts have extended to the sports community. Footballer Matheus Uribe delivered aid to the devastated La Molana region in Chocó, and FC Barcelona has pledged $100,000 in donations. Furthermore, Deportes Tolima fans collected approximately five tons of aid during a recent international match, bringing the club's total contributions to 34 tons.
