Colombia earthquake relief and Bogotá donation efforts

Overview

The Bogotá Mayor's Office and the District Institute of the Arts (Idartes) announced that the 2026 edition of the Vallenato al Parque festival will function as a donation collection center. In coordination with the Red Cross and IDIGER, the event aims to support families and communities affected by recent earthquakes in various regions of the country. Donation points will be located at the Calle 63 and Carrera 60 entrances of Simón Bolívar Park. Requested items include non-perishable foods, hygiene products, first aid materials, and shelter supplies such as blankets and mattresses.

Following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Colombia that has resulted in over 300 deaths, humanitarian aid efforts have expanded to support regions including Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Quindío, and Cali. In Bogotá, the Palacio de los Deportes has been designated as the primary collection point for all donations to streamline distribution, while nine SuperCADE locations are also accepting essential items like hygiene kits and bedding.

Solidarity efforts have extended to the sports community. Footballer Matheus Uribe delivered aid to the La Molana region in Chocó, and FC Barcelona has pledged $100,000 in donations. Additionally, Deportes Tolima fans collected approximately five tons of aid during an international match, bringing the club's total contributions to 34 tons.
