Bolivia and Peru launch binational vaccination campaign

Bolivia and Peru have launched the Andean Vaccination Week at the border in Puerto Mayor de Carabuco, La Paz. This binational initiative aims to prevent outbreaks of highly contagious diseases, specifically measles and diphtheria, within inter-border corridors.

The program utilizes mobile brigades to provide prioritized care to high-risk groups, including children under five and populations with high geographic mobility. Officials from the Andean Immunization Program and the Andean Health Organization emphasized that coordinated vaccination efforts are essential to anticipate epidemiological risks and protect families in the Andean region.

Local authorities, including the Mayor of Puerto Mayor de Carabuco and health directors from Puno, have committed to supporting these sanitary initiatives to strengthen regional health ties and improve vaccine coverage.
