Bolivia appoints five new departmental prosecutors

Bolivian Attorney General Roger Mariaca has appointed five new departmental prosecutors as part of a restructuring within the Ministerio Público. The new appointments cover the departments of Chuquisaca, Oruro, Potosí, Beni, and Tarija.

In Chuquisaca, Alexander Mendoza has assumed the role, moving from his previous position in Beni to replace Mauricio Nava. In Oruro, Alexander René Casanova was sworn in, while René Walter Cáceres took office in Potosí. In Tarija, Lesly Tania Alemán Leaño has been appointed as the new departmental prosecutor. Silvia Valverde has been designated for Beni.

Mariaca noted that the new officials are natives of the regions where they will serve, a move intended to strengthen their understanding of local needs. During the ceremony, the Attorney General emphasized the need for transparency, ethics, and a commitment to serving victims and ensuring access to justice. Alemán Leaño, who has over eight years of experience within the Ministerio Público, is among the first women to lead a departmental prosecutor's office during the current administration.
