Bolivia implements police and prison leadership changes

Bolivia has implemented several high-level leadership changes within its police and correctional institutions. Colonel Lucio Jiménez Vargas has been appointed as the interim Inspector General of the Bolivian Police via Presidential Decree 5723, replacing Frans William Cabrera Quispe, who held the position for less than one month.

In Santa Cruz, Colonel Carlos Veizaga Flores has assumed the role of governor at the Palmasola penitentiary, replacing Colonel Ramón David Arauz Martínez. Veizaga is responsible for the security and custody of over 10,000 inmates. His appointment follows allegations from female inmates regarding excessive force and mistreatment during searches, as well as investigations into alleged irregular payments involving the Director of the Penitentiary Regime, Benjamín Villegas.
