Bolivia introduces mobile wallet option for Juancito Pinto Bonus

The Bolivian government has introduced a new digital payment option for the Juancito Pinto Bonus, allowing parents to receive funds through the YASTA mobile wallet provided by Banco Unión. This initiative aims to simplify the collection process and reduce long queues, particularly for unbanked families.

The bonus, which serves as an incentive to promote school attendance and retention for students in public, subsidized, and special education centers, has increased from Bs200 to Bs300 per beneficiary this year. More than 2.2 million students are expected to benefit.

Beneficiaries can choose from three payment methods: direct deposit into bank accounts, payment at authorized agency windows, or via the YASTA mobile wallet. To use the digital option, parents must download the app, register using their identity card and mobile number, and follow the Ministry of Education's established schedule. Funds accessed via YASTA can be withdrawn from Banco Unión ATMs or used for digital transactions.
