Bolivian airline BoA fires CEO Eduardo Valdivia amid travel scandal

State-owned airline Boliviana de Aviación (BoA) removed its chief executive, Eduardo Valdivia, after accusations that a personal trip to the United States and the use of a preferential ticket price constituted a conflict of interest. Valdivia posted a farewell message denying any intent to profit from his position, thanking employees and acknowledging public criticism.

The Ministry of Public Works, Services and Housing announced that an open call will be launched to select a new permanent manager, with an interim manager appointed in the meantime. Valdivia is under investigation for alleged concussions, undue influence and undue benefits linked to the trip, which reportedly cost him just over 900 bolivianos for a return flight from Miami to Santa Cruz.
