Bolivian authorities search for missing prosecutor after plane crash in Beni

Authorities in Bolivia have intensified search and rescue operations for Prosecutor Juan Benjo Huchani Alpire, who has been missing since a small aircraft crashed in the Beni department. The accident involved a Cessna C-172 in the Iténez province near the Cachascani hacienda.

The crash resulted in the death of the pilot and left a prosecutor and a lawyer injured. Reports indicate that Huchani Alpire may have left the crash site to seek assistance after helping to save an injured colleague. His mobile phone has not been located.

Search efforts are being conducted via land and air, involving the Bolivian Air Force, the Search and Rescue (SAR) group, the Bolivian Police, and the Armed Forces. The Attorney General, Roger Mariaca Montenegro, stated that all technical and human resources are being mobilized to locate the official and clarify the circumstances of the incident. Huchani Alpire was in the region to conduct investigations related to cattle theft and land grabbing.
