Champotón: Mexican authorities seize fuel, weapons, and airplane in raid
Mexican federal authorities, including the Secretaría de Marina and the Fiscalía General de la República, executed a search operation at a ranch in the community of El Cerrito, located in the municipality of Champotón, Campeche. The operation was part of an investigation into the illegal transfer of hydrocarbons from Mérida, Yucatán, to Campeche, which was initiated following an anonymous report.
During the raid, officials seized approximately 5,912 liters of hydrocarbon and 3,000 liters of jet fuel, along with two LP gas tanks. The seizure also included an airplane, 61 land vehicles, five long guns, three short guns, 12 magazines, and roughly 1,000 cartridges of various calibers. Additionally, authorities recovered 777,750 Mexican pesos, five US dollars, two night vision devices, two ballistic vests, and two firearm attachments.
Six individuals were detained during the operation and placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry to determine their legal status. The investigation continues under the Federal Law to Prevent and Sanction Crimes Related to Hydrocarbons.
