By late October 2026, law enforcement activities in Mexico continued to expand through targeted operations against organized crime, synthetic drug production, and illicit smuggling. Authorities have maintained a heavy focus on dismantling manufacturing infrastructure. In Michoacán and Guerrero, coordinated efforts dismantled multiple clandestine laboratories, including a significant operation in Atoyac de Álvarez that seized 26,000 kilograms of chemical precursors and 15 reactors. In Durango, the dismantling of two methamphetamine laboratories near El Destierro resulted in an estimated economic blow of over 548 million pesos.
In Sinaloa, operations have targeted specific criminal factions. Federal forces arrested seven individuals linked to ‘Los Rugrats’, a cell of the ‘Los Mayos’ faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, including relatives of high-priority target Carlos Alberto Páez Pereda. Additionally, the arrest of José Luis N, alias ‘Wicho’, in Mazatlán targeted the group’s financial and logistical operations.
Seizures of precursors and contraband remain widespread. Authorities intercepted over 27,000 kilograms of tartaric acid from China at Lázaro Cárdenas, a substance that can serve as a methamphetamine precursor. In Michoacán, customs officials also seized over 134,000 items with suspected intellectual property violations. Other significant actions include the seizure of 16.8 tons of methamphetamine in Sinaloa and the arrest of Jesús Manuel ‘N’, alias ‘Bebo’, a financial operator for the Gulf Cartel’s ‘Metros’ faction, alongside the seizure of 500,000 liters of fuel.
