Bolivian lawmaker warns of transnational cartel expansion
Bolivian Deputy Carlos Alarcón has warned that the country is increasingly becoming an operational hub for transnational criminal organizations. He highlighted the rise of contract killings and organized crime, particularly in border regions near Brazil.
Alarcón identified several international groups allegedly operating within the country, including Mexico’s Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Brazil’s Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho, as well as criminal groups from Peru and Colombia. He expressed concern regarding the potential infiltration of state institutions by these organizations and called for a more decisive national response to combat the growing insecurity.
