Legal investigations intensify across Colombia, Bolivia, and Argentina

In Colombia, former ambassador Laura Sarabia pleaded innocent during a virtual hearing in Bogotá. The Prosecutor's Office has charged her with abuse of public function, aggravated illegal coercion, and embezzlement by use, stemming from an investigation into a polygraph exam administered to her son's nanny.

In Bolivia, the Senate has approved a special commission to investigate political advisor Fernando Cerimedo. The investigation aims to explore potential links between Cerimedo and the Executive Branch. Cerimedo is currently in preventive detention facing charges of illicit enrichment and attempted feminicide following an armed attack on lawyer Nadia Beller. Beller has requested to be placed in a protected witness program. A judicial hearing to examine Cerimedo's digital devices has been rescheduled for October 13.

In Argentina, a legislative commission is investigating the installation of a Leolabs radar in Tolhuin. Former Defense Minister Jorge Taiana testified before the commission, noting that the Ministry was alerted to the radar's dual civil and military capabilities via social media and stated the ministry lacked the legal authority to dismantle the structure.
