Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike sparks Nagpur protests demanding resignations of Modi and education minister

Youth and student groups gathered at Nagpur’s Constitution Square to back activist Sonam Wangchuk, whose hunger strike protests the NEET exam paper leak and calls for reforms in India’s education system. Demonstrators also demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Education Minister Dharmendra Prasad, chanting slogans such as “Vacate the chair”.

Police attempted to disperse the rally with tear‑gas shells, but participants remained on the streets. CJP founder Abhijit Dipke expressed alarm over Wangchuk’s health, noting that the hunger strike had already lasted over three weeks and warning of serious medical risks. The unrest prompted remarks from figures in the film industry, underscoring the broader public attention to the protest.
