Bolmut Regent SJL named suspect in KPK extortion investigation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named SJL, the Regent of Bolaang Mongondow Utara (Bolmut) for the 2025-2030 period, a suspect in an extortion case. SJL is being detained for 20 days starting September 22, 2026, at the KPK Red and White Building detention center.

According to the KPK, SJL allegedly imposed a 10 percent fee on projects within the Bolmut Regency government. The scheme involved directing the Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department to manage project winners, with portions of the fees allocated to the department head and the procurement working group. In one instance, a private party reportedly paid 130 million IDR related to a 1.9 billion IDR road construction project.

Additionally, SJL is accused of receiving gratifications totaling 11.14 billion IDR between 2023 and 2026, covering periods when they served as both Acting Regent and elected Regent. During the sting operation, officials seized 200 million IDR in cash as evidence.
