Bologna cultural events see high attendance as marathon announces musical partnership

The 2026 edition of Bologna Estate, a summer cultural program coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City, concluded on September 27. The event recorded over 2 million total attendances across five months of programming, featuring 136 event days and 7,825 individual appointments.

While the city of Bologna accounted for approximately 1.5 million attendees, participation in the surrounding metropolitan area saw significant growth, doubling compared to 2025. The program involved 393 cultural projects, 13,620 artists and cultural protagonists, and thousands of technicians and volunteers.

Looking ahead to 2027, the Bologna Marathon will partner with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna for an edition titled ‘The Running Symphony’. Scheduled for March 7, 2027, the event aims to celebrate the intersection of sport and music, coinciding with the reopening of the Teatro Comunale’s historic venue following restoration work.
