Running events and developments in Italy
Overview
Running events in Italy have highlighted both competitive athletics and community engagement. In September 2026, the Bologna Marathon in Trail was scheduled for the Bolognese Apennines, featuring international participants across various distances. Additionally, the Meda Urban Race was set for mid-October, offering inclusive distances and supporting local organizations.
Following these athletic activities, plans for the 2027 Bologna Marathon were announced. The event will partner with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna for an edition titled ‘The Running Symphony’, scheduled for March 7, 2027. This partnership aims to merge sport and music to coincide with the reopening of the historic theater.
