Bologna launches mosquito control after dengue case confirmed

Health officials in Bologna confirmed a dengue infection in the Borgo Panigale district on 19 June 2026. The municipal government announced that, following regional protocol, disinfection operations will begin immediately in the affected streets – Via del Carroccio, Via Mameli, Via Legnano, Via Normandia and Via Pontida – targeting both public thoroughfares and private courtyards.

Residents, condo managers and business operators are asked to allow access for crews performing larvicide and adulticide treatments, to empty any standing water from balconies, terraces or containers, and to keep windows closed at night. The interventions are scheduled to continue through the night of 22 June, with the aim of preventing secondary cases of the disease.
