Bologna provides public housing for women victims of domestic violence

The municipality of Bologna will make three publicly owned ERP apartments available from 2026 for women who are victims of domestic violence or who are leaving violent situations. The homes can be used for inter‑municipal relocation to improve personal and family safety, with two units for one or two‑person households (28‑56 m²) and one unit for three or four‑person households (56‑79 m²).

Women must apply through their local Social Services office by 30 October, be registered with the territorial social service or a local anti‑violence centre, and either already hold an ERP tenancy or belong to a household where the tenant is the perpetrator. Priority is given to families with children or members with disabilities. The request is assessed by the Housing Policies Office and the Social Services of the involved municipalities, following the metropolitan protocol on housing autonomy for violence victims signed by Bologna, regional and local partners.
