Bolsa Família increases minimum benefit to R$ 691 and accelerates October payments

The Brazilian government has implemented a 15.04% increase in Bolsa Família benefits, raising the minimum monthly payment per family from R$ 600 to R$ 691. This adjustment, based on accumulated INPC inflation from March 2023 to August 2026, also includes proportional increases for additional benefits such as the Citizenship Income and Early Childhood Benefit.

To mitigate the potential impacts of the super El Niño phenomenon, which threatens regions with severe drought or heavy flooding, the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger (MDS) has restructured the October payment schedule. The new schedule unifies payments for most beneficiaries (NIS endings 3 through 0) on Wednesday, October 21. Beneficiaries in municipalities with declared emergency or calamity status will receive their payments on the first day of the calendar, October 19.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education (MEC) has begun paying the 7th installment of the Pé-de-Meia program to regular high school students who maintained at least 80% attendance in August. Payments for this program are being distributed through October 26 based on the students' birth months.
