Bolsa Mexicana de Valores faces volatility amid shifting global market trends
The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) has experienced recent volatility, with the IPC index recording a decline of 1.41% in a single session, marking its lowest level since June 10. This downturn contributed to a cumulative loss of 3.15% for the Mexican market in August, although the year-to-date performance remains positive with a 0.81% gain.
In contrast, major Wall Street indices showed growth following the release of U.S. inflation data. The S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, and Dow Jones Industrial Average all posted gains as investors reacted to Producer Price Index (PPI) figures. The annual PPI rate fell to 4.2%, and core PPI rose by 0.2%, which was lower than the anticipated 0.3%. These figures, combined with moderating general inflation in the U.S., have influenced market expectations regarding the Federal Reserve's upcoming monetary policy decisions.
