Bolzano authorities uncover fuel fraud scheme and seize 41,000 euros

Authorities in Italy have uncovered a fuel fraud scheme known as the ‘Karburant’ investigation. The probe, conducted by the Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza, revealed that a driver for a large-scale food distribution company and a gas station manager in Chiusa allegedly used company fuel cards to simulate non-existent diesel and AdBlue purchases.

Investigators estimate the reconstructed operations caused approximately 20,000 euros in damages to the company. During searches ordered by the Bolzano Prosecutor's Office, police seized 41,050 euros in cash. The money was reportedly hidden in various locations, including a safe and between the pages of books.
