Bombay High Court orders CBI probe into Disha Salian death case
The Bombay High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the 2020 death of Disha Salian, a celebrity talent manager who died after falling from a building in Mumbai. The court directed the CBI to register a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the case.
Salian's death was previously handled by the Mumbai Police, who moved toward classifying the incident as a suicide. The decision to involve the CBI follows years of demands from Salian's father, Satish Salian, and questions regarding the handling of the original investigation. Concerns have been raised regarding the management of the scene and the potential for evidence tampering.
The development has triggered political friction in Maharashtra. BJP leader Ram Kadam questioned why the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led government did not grant a CBI probe at the time, alleging attempts to shield prominent figures. Aaditya Thackeray, a leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), dismissed these claims as a smear campaign.
