Bombay High Court questions investigation into Disha Salian death

The Bombay High Court has reserved its decision on a petition filed by Satish Salian seeking the registration of an FIR regarding the death of his daughter, Disha Salian. The petition alleges rape and murder, challenging the initial investigation.

During the hearing, the court raised several questions regarding procedural irregularities in the investigation and the Accidental Death Report (ADR). Judges questioned why the autopsy was reportedly conducted by only one medical professional instead of two, as per state guidelines, and noted discrepancies regarding the condition of the body and the lack of vital evidence, such as direct CCTV footage from the site.

Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray informed the court that the ADR, originally accepted in February 2021, was re-evaluated in late 2023 due to public skepticism. Satish Salian has expressed hope for justice, alleging that previous police closure reports were fabricated to protect certain individuals.
