Bonito and Caracol reach 99% sewage coverage in Mato Grosso do Sul

The municipalities of Bonito and Caracol have achieved 99% sewage coverage as of September 2026, according to data from Sanesul. This figure significantly exceeds the Brazilian national average of 56.7%.

In Bonito, Mayor Josmail Rodrigues met with Sanesul President Renato Marcílio da Silva to discuss further infrastructure expansions. A new sewage pumping station project, valued at R$ 1.5 million, has been contracted to serve the Solar dos Lagos I neighborhood and Rua Nossa Senhora Aparecida. The project has a nine-month execution timeline.

Efforts are also underway to extend the sewage network to the Parque das Palmeiras and Palmeira Velha neighborhoods. These initiatives are part of a broader state strategy to make Mato Grosso do Sul the first Brazilian state to meet universal sanitation goals ahead of national deadlines.
