Bonneville Salt Flats hosts high-speed motorcycle record attempts

Multiple teams and riders are pursuing high-speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Chris Rivas is attempting to break the 400 mph record using a 2,997cc turbocharged V4 motorcycle designed by Denis Manning. Rivas noted that success at Bonneville requires extreme patience to manage how salt and wind conditions impact performance. He previously modified his BUB Seven machine's suspension and tires to improve stability.

In a separate effort, the Buell Leviathan team participated in Bonneville Speed Week with the goal of exceeding 402 km/h using a 400 hp turbo engine. During its debut, the motorcycle reached approximately 287.3 km/h. Rider Jacob Stark faced technical challenges, including gear ratio issues and stability concerns when exceeding 241 km/h. Despite the initial speed falling short of the target, the team successfully secured the necessary licensing to proceed to the Long Course.
