Bookstar European Literature Festival opens in Skopje

The 12th edition of the Bookstar European Literature Festival has commenced in Skopje, running through September 30. Organized by the publishing house Antholog, this year’s festival operates under the theme “Plague of Freedom?”.

The program features seven international authors, including Jap Roben (Netherlands), Eloy Moreno (Spain), Liliana Korobka (Moldova/Romania), Martina Vidaic (Croatia), Guzel Yakhina (Kazakhstan), and Sasha Bronwasser (Netherlands). More than 30 Macedonian authors and participants are also involved in the festivities.

Events include literary readings, podcasts, debates, and the 12th European Literature Fair. Key discussions will address topics such as freedom, collective memory, and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on the changing world. The festival includes sessions for high school students, such as a meeting with Eloy Moreno regarding social media and modern happiness, and a debate titled “From Robot to Chatbot: A Discussion on the Era to Come.”
