Macedonian literary cultural promotion
Overview
The promotion of Macedonian literature has transitioned from local festivals to broader international engagement. The 12th Bookstar European Literature Festival opened in Skopje under the theme “Plague of Freedom?”, featuring international and Macedonian authors through readings, debates, and discussions on technology and collective memory.
Following these local events, the Macedonian Association of Publishers (MAI) expanded the country’s literary presence internationally. This included participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair to promote contemporary literature and children’s books, as well as involvement in the 15th European Night of Literature in Sofia, Bulgaria, to strengthen cultural ties through public readings.
