Borges Conferences 2026 open with new sculpture and book launch

The Borges Conferences 2026 have officially opened with events focused on the literary and visual heritage of Jorge Luis Borges. The inaugural session featured the unveiling of a new sculptural bust of the author, created by artist Maximiliano Diego Isla Blanche.

Additionally, researcher and educator Lucas Adur launched his new book, ‘Jorge Luis Borges, un destino literario’ (Jorge Luis Borges, a literary destination). The publication explores the transition of Borges’ identity from a local Buenos Aires figure to a global literary icon. The event included discussions with writer Carlos Gamerro and a lecture by Guido Herzovich regarding the author's international tradition.
