Bornholm budget agreement includes 70 savings despite promises of citizen involvement

Despite pre-election promises to allow residents to influence local priorities before decisions are finalized, a new budget agreement for 2027 and 2028 has already established 70 specific savings.

The agreement includes a total reduction in operating expenses of 50.5 million DKK and involves the closure of five local libraries. While the budget will be sent for public consultation from September 10 to September 22, critics note that the major cuts were decided politically before citizens had the opportunity to provide input.
