Bornholm residents protest proposed municipal budget cuts

Residents of Bornholm are organizing protests and town hall meetings to contest proposed budget cuts for 2027. The proposed austerity measures include the closure of children's centers in Tejn and Østermarie, as well as five local libraries.

In Allinge-Sandvig, a town hall meeting has been scheduled to allow citizens to question local politicians directly regarding the impact of these savings. Anne-Mette Stampe, Vice President of the Allinge-Sandvig Town Association, expressed hope that politicians will listen to the community and reconsider the proposed cuts before the budget undergoes its final readings.

Additionally, a demonstration is planned in Rønne to protest the potential loss of local services. Organizers emphasize that the movement is not tied to a specific political party, though it aims to rally anyone affected by the potential closures of libraries and community centers.
