Borno State: 15 killed in suspected Boko Haram attack

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked villagers in the Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria, killing at least 15 people. The victims, including both young and elderly men, were reportedly gathering firewood for heating and cooking in the Ala and Musune wards when they were ambushed.

Local sources and survivors report that the attackers bound the victims and executed them at close range. While 15 bodies have been recovered and buried according to Islamic rites, three individuals remain missing. The Borno State Police Command confirmed the incident and stated that security personnel are working to locate the unaccounted persons.

The attack occurs amidst a resurgence of violence in northeastern Nigeria, a region that has been the epicenter of a 17-year insurgency led by Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). The ongoing conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions of people.
